Vegetables and Fruit
The following are some of our local suppliers of vegetables and fruit grown organically/locally. While we certainly do buy vegetables and fruit from the supermarkets, we try as much as possible to grow our own or buy from local suppliers that do not spray or use pesticides etc.
Paul’s Organic Veg – organic vegetables from Mitchel Troy near Monmouth. Available at Usk Farmers Market.
Blaencamel Farm – this organic farm near Aberaeron, Ceredigion supplies vegetables and fruit at local farmers markets and also operates a box scheme here.
Penpont Shop – based near Brecon, Powys this shop sells fresh organic fruit, vegetables, and flowers grown in the walled gardens. Open from mid June through to Christmas every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:30am – 6:00pm.
Primrose Earth Centre – an organic vegetable and fruit farm near Hay on Wye, Powys. ‘Primrose Farm has been managed ecologically since 1990. Over the last few years, permaculture principles have been introduced. Not only has this considerably added to the sustainability of the holding, but has created new habitats and tranquil settings which are of great benefit to wildlife and people. The 0.5-acre forest garden is probably the largest that is commercially operating in this country and contains around 95 different varieties of fruit and nut trees.’ Sells produce at Hay Market each Thursday.
100% Hay – Glanwye Farm based near Hay on Wye, Powys sell farm fresh vegetables and home made preserves through local retail outlets, farmers markets, and also directly from the farm. Veg boxes to order and fantastic Kimchi!
